The Formless Cabinet is part of kar-’s fifth anniversary collection, created in response to the Buddhist teaching that all forms are fleeting and open to transformation. Instead of following a fixed outline, the cabinet appears softened and almost eroded, as if shaped by time, breath, or emotion.
Crafted from a single layer of resin-infused fiberglass, the surface holds a quiet translucency that shifts gently under changing light. Its contours are irregular and intuitive, resisting symmetry and embracing the spontaneity of hand-working. Each piece carries subtle marks that record the gesture of its making, giving it a presence that is both corporeal and atmospheric.
The collection’s two hues, Moss Brown and Jade, emerged from a year of refinement. Moss Brown has the grounded calm of earth and stone. Jade carries a soft luminosity reminiscent of pale mineral surfaces touched by light. Both colours lend the piece a meditative stillness that integrates easily into contemporary living spaces.
The Formless Cabinet sits between sculpture and functional object. It does not insist on being noticed, yet quietly transforms the atmosphere of a room.
